Good Food + Great Company = Fun Night!
Wes and I went out to dinner with Jen and Anwar on Friday night at a Cuban restaurant called Havana Mania (which Wes pronounced “mah-nee-yah” for some reason, LOL!) to try it out. They had a variety of mojitos, so Jen and I each ordered a strawberry mojito, Wes had an orange mojito and Anwar had “The Babaloo” and later a Cuban beer. Boy was that fun! The strawberry puree made the drink so sweet that I didn’t even taste the alcohol. =) Poor Wes - he didn’t even get carded, but Jen was, while Anwar and I offered our IDs. The funny thing is that the server would have probably walked away without even asking me, the youngest-looking one in the group. It’s okay Wes, you probably looked more mature sitting next to me. =P
I started off my dinner by ordering the incorrect appetizer. I wanted the chicharrones de pollo con yuca (chicken with potatoes) and somehow ended up ordering the fufu de yuca (pork with potatoes). Oy … . It was okay though; the pork plate ended up tasting really good and everyone enjoyed it. I’ll be sure to try the chicken next time. We were seated next to the live band and there was an older couple dancing on the floor. We guessed they had been married for about 60 years. They may be old, but they still got it! They were completely enjoying themselves on the dance floor and I actually enjoyed watching them dance more than the younger couple who were up there. I hope that I’ll be as happy and healthy as they seemed to be when I reach that age. They were so cute together! The wife even waved goodbye to us as she backed out her car in the parking lot, lol.
There was lots of food and plenty of laughter during dinner; I laughed so hard my stomach was hurting - I’m guessing that was a result of the mojito. =D
Funniest line: “I can fake it. I’m a woman.” - The singer, referring to the music/song requested by the older couple
Just wrong: “…She has Parkinsons…” - You know … .
